If you do, there are a few things you should know about how to care for your head! Many people think that going bald is the easiest hairstyle and it can be in many ways, but you still need to take care of your scalp.
-
Still use shampoo!
-
Exfoliate
Apart from just cleaning your head, you should also get rid of dirt and dead skin that could be clogging your pores.
-
Shield your head from the sun!
Sunscreen is SO important when you’re going around bareheaded. You no longer have a layer of protection that is your hair from UV rays. So, make sure to lather up on sunscreen (include your ears and neck too!). You could also wear a hat. On cold days, you should still shield your head if you’re going to be outside because the sun’s rays can still cause damage, but also because your head will lose body heat so you want to make sure that you’re staying warm!
-
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Without the proper amount of moisture, your skin can become dry and rough. During the cold months, especially, it can cause your skin to crack and can be rather uncomfortable! So make sure you are applying moisturizer multiple times a day, including when you wake up, after you shower, and before bed.
-
Drink water
Piggybacking on the last tip, make sure that you’re drinking water as staying hydrated from the inside out can help your skin from drying up.
-
Find your perfect way to shave
If you plan on keeping your head bald, finding a way to shave that is best for you is paramount. There are electric razors for bald heads, but you might just want to go with standard hair clippers or a razor (try to find one that has the flexible neck so it can match the contours of your head). Find what works for you to keep your head perfectly bald!
On making your head shiny
- Don’t let your head naturally achieve this by building up oil for several days as that can be harmful! There are specific products out there for head shine, but you can use something more commonly found such as Jojoba oil or baby oil. You only need about a dime size and make sure to buff your head!
Go on and continue to be your amazing bald self!
