Let’s Talk About Back-To-School and Self-Care!

Times have been more stressful than usual and that can take a toll on our mental and physical health. When we are feeling our best, it is easier to take on everything that life can throw at us. As our to-do list gets longer, we seem to have less and less time for ourselves. But we must prioritize our health or none of those items will get accomplished. So how are some ways you can practice self-care from home?

Take a bath
Just sit in a bubble filled bathtub with music, bath bombs, a good book, some wine, whatever you want to get your body in a relaxed mode!

Do a full-body cleansing
Deep condition your hair, do a face mask to clean your pores, care for your feet, and shave (but make sure to use Bump Stopper so you don’t get razor bumps!). Feeling clean will help your mood, especially if you have been busy and have not had the chance to wash up. Make sure you moisturize your skin too, especially if you exfoliate!

Do your nails
Your hands and nails have probably taken a beating from your daily life, so take some time to get rid of those pesky hangnails, file, and buff them! You can even paint them if that’s your jam.

Get a massage
Right now it may not be easy (or safe!) to go out and do this professionally, but it would be a great opportunity to hang out with your significant other or you can use an electronic massager.

Do some exercise
Exercising releases endorphins that make you happier and healthier! It’s a great way to clear your mind and relieve anxiety. It doesn’t have to be a fast-paced HIIT workout, you could simply go for a walk or do some yoga. This helps center your body and keeps you healthier physically.

SLEEP well!
You’ve probably heard this a thousand times, but getting enough sleep is important for long term health. Even one night of bad sleep can take a few days to recover from. A consistent sleep schedule will help your body regulate stress.

Eat well
Although this is not what some people consider self-care, it is important for overall health. You can splurge a little bit to treat yourself every so often but make sure you’re putting good foods into your body regularly so you can have the energy to accomplish all those items on your to-do list.

Going back to school can be hard for both students and parents this year (can we get a show of hands for those new virtual/remote learning parents?)

Take some extra time for yourself, just a moment to really be with yourself and recharge.
